About The Mike Thurston Trust

The centre (opened in1982) is located off the Little London Road, North Walsham, Norfolk, England.

The Trust and the Water Activities Centre was born of the a sad event - the death of a young Scout leader in the town, namely Mike Thurston.  One of Mike’s passions was sailing, and a small group of like-minded people formed the idea of creating a water activities centre in Mike’s memory.  The centre  provides a safe learning environment for young people to enjoy a range of watersports.

Since the early days the site has gradually developed into an attractive site for day users and campers alike, with superb on site facilities including the recently opened boatshed.

With effect from the 11th December 2003 the centre was added to the Central Register of Charities held by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. Our Registered Charity No: is 1101150.

The Trust/Centre is managed by an executive committee, who meet bi-monthly in a local hostalry.  For further details contact Mike Brooks (Vice Chairman)
